Default Sunday Football at Windsor Park

Today was an historic day for Irish League football, regardless of the two clubs that performed. As we know there is still a ruling by our MC that Linfield can not play at Windsor Park on a Sunday. Do you think in this day in age that this rule should be removed?

Yes, I think this ruling should be scrapped.

I would also be interested to hear the the reasons from those who have selected 'No' in the poll above.

The ruling wasn't made up by the MC, this rule was in our constitution when Linfield was founded in 1886.

I can't see this changing and don't see why would need to change it. Sunday football is a no goer (if such a word) due to the amount of EPL football shown on tv. Yes we would get those who play on a Saturday free to go but I doubt it will increase the gates.

Is it correct though to slam the door shut on it? We seem to already have a back log of matches, unlike other clubs in the league we actually "compete" in the Setanta giving us more competitive matches.... I'd like to think if we have torrential downfall expected on Saturday which almost guarantees a prosponement, I'd like to think our board would react fast and make the game a possibility on sunday, rather than further increasing the back log?

From what I can gather, the rule seems to mention the Blues not playing at Windsor on a Sunday,is there anything covering the team playing an away match on a Sunday?
Surely with potential fixture congestion looming, would it not be worth considering keeping the option open, even for an away match?

I've said it before on here, Sunday football is a major solution to the Irish League's problems, but not Sunday football for the Irish League, for the Amateur leagues or Kid's football... Move the Amateur league football to an 11 am kickoff, on a saturday morning, games over by 1:30pm = much more people attending Irish League games.. Plus people like myself who decide to go to games also get the opportunity to either play or coach in the Junior/Amateur leagues. Kid's football, move it to a Sunday morning.

We've TV on sundays, we've the town open on sundays, we've leisure centres open on sundays and i bet every christian in this world doesn't avoid everything but the church on sundays..

The rule states that Linfield can not play on a Sunday, hence the motown moggies going to America and not us.

The rule barring football on a Sunday at Windsor Pk was removed at the AGM earlier this year.

All the things which are seen as threats to the IL, which hardly makes Sunday football the saviour of the league that some people are proclaiming it as.

Ok. lets move to Sunday matches and forget about these Bible thumpers. Agreed ok.

Now to avoid competing with the Sky T.V. and other matches . the solution would be move the kick off time to 11 AM. that would be one hour before the Angelus.

Problem LINFIELD would have difficulty fielding a team. Is this correct.?

Something similar occord one year ago ( this is what i was informed so i cannot verify) when a very revered gentleman Passed away. not All of the playing staff attended the church service.

Yes it should be removed:

Although people are saying about EPL on TV IF Linfield where to play a match on a Sunday They would have to pick it very wisely (If thats even possible). Not every Sunday is going to suit people... but not every Saturday suits people or Friday night games!

IMO you'd get twice as much people wanting to go to a Sunday game than you would have, those not wanting to go.

As said before, take what occurs on a Saturday to take fans away from the blues away and put IT on a Sunday or some other time on the weekend.. Like amateur/junior football. Kids leagues on sunday, amateur/womens on saturday morning
