Default Dungannon Swifts 1 - 1 Linfield

Linfield drew tonight with Dungannon Swifts after being behind in the game until 3 minutes into injury time, with Billy Joe Burns sealing the draw with a stunning volley into the top left corner from about 12 yards out.

Linfield went behind harshly after 35 minutes when an attempted free-kick shot hit Michael Carvilles left arm at great pace, however the referee the gave the penalty, which McAree converted.

Linfield thought they took they equalised 5 minutes from time when a shot was parried by the keeper and Michael Carville followed up quickly with what seemed to be a goal, however the linesman flagged for offside.

Bluemen had begun to leave the ground when Linfield got a last minute corner, one of about 10 Linfield got in this game. Damien Curran floated a ball over most of the defence and it sat up perfectly for Billy Joe Burns to hammer a left-footed volley into the top corner.

To be honest, the goal summed up the game for the lad who could do no wrong. He put in a masterful peformance at right-back showing great skill on the ball, great defending and great composure when in attacking positions. I felt he eclipsed everyone else in the team by a considerable margin with exception of Michael Carville who put in a lung-busting performance up front having to do most of the work on his own. He did have plenty of chances, however most of these were of his own making due to his quick movement and steady determination.

On a final note, again, the team looked disjointed for most of the game with this 4-3-3 formation. Paul McAreavey was unable to make an impact in midfield strutting around at a leisurely pace. He was replaced in the second half by John Martin who slotted in up front as Downey dropped back into the centre, and we seemed to have a little more shape. When Dougie returns and if Gaulty is still out, it would not do any harm at all to slot young Burns in, I personally feel hes got the makings of an all-round centre midfielder.

Not a bad effort Cornholio.

The official site's report was a bit delayed tonight due to the lack of facilities at Dungannon, all rectified now though.

Slight problem with that report though, Burns didnt do any 'controlling' before the shot as per the official site article, it was a direct volley as you can see from the vid.
