The members of Hatchets and Hammers would like to make it clear how outraged we are at the treatment of Linfield Football Club in the past few days.

A shocking incident took place in Belfast city centre which certain sections of our society have pounced on to use as a platform for attacking Linfield Football Club. Those who carried this incident out are thugs who have no place on the streets of Belfast. It is clear the media has an agenda against LFC with unsubstantiated reports based on wildly conflicting "eyewitness" accounts and SF / SDLP mouth-pieces demonising Linfield (and IL football in general) over an incident in Belfast City Centre of all places. What is sure is that the culprits will be caught and exposed through evidence gathered by the PSNI and it is only then, the real story will emerge.

However, the media portrayal in the days following the incident of Linfield FC fans has been an absolute disgrace. We encourage fans to make their point clear by leaving rags such as the Sunday World on the shelf on a Sunday morning, and ignoring such 'sensationalist' shows as 'The Nolan Show' who is just out to boost his ratings.

Finally, we at H&H give our full support and thanks to the creators of the 'Windsor Roar' CD. This CD changed the sound of the stands at Windsor Park, bringing back our traditional tunes free of sectarianism and bigotry, and littered with glorification of our past.
