Default Linfield's right-back position

At right-back we have two players vying for the spot:

Ervin - seen to be more reliable than Dougie, however lacks that something 'special', can get stuck in, gets up the wing and gets decent crosses in, can be prone to getting caught out of position quite often and short range passing can be off-target.

Douglas - our most unpredictable player, can end up man of the match with great work down the wing with excellent crosses, and good defending, however can also have a day where he looks far off IL standard, missing tackles, bad crosses, getting caught out etc.

A new RB perhaps?

(my opinion only!)

i like Jimbo, but i think our style of play makes him look bad, ie constantly punting the ball into the channels. Maybe when fergie hangs the boots up our style will change slightly and allow more ball on the deck football

Dougie for me, he can be erratic but on his day I feel he offers more than Jimbo, who offers a very strong backup.

Both wee Wee Jimbo and Dougie are hard not to like in person. However for me we need a new first choice RB.
Jimbo OR Dougie would do as back up.

this post is spot on imo, people know where i stand on this one, hoofing the ball up the pitch isnt jims style and maybe as jason stated when spike hangs the boots up are style will change, when we get the ball on the deck we destroy teams and defenders cant cope with the pace we have up front in peter and tommy, when full backs go forward and join the attack midfielders are supposed to cover, and i dont want to be seen to be makin excuses for jim but the right hand side of midfield needs to and more protection, this also applys to aidy when going forward, jim for me and dougie is excellent cover and both players should remain as linfield players

A new one to give Jim competition and improve him.
I've seen Dougie's charges forward or loss of concentration too many times now.

I think Ervin is much more consistent whereas Douglas makes costly silly mistakes. However Douglas is a better footballer. I think both players are probably the best right sided full backs currently in the League.

but on the right back issue ... Douglas.

As for Damron suggesting that once spike hangs up his boots, Ervin will improve due to his footballing ability..... lol

Dougie is an idiot and doesn't have the brains to play football. After his display of hoofing in the first half, running about like a headless chicken in the second half against Limavady and his sending off (which i was predicting at half time), he should never play for Linfield again.

Ervin is not brilliant but i have lost count of the number of times his pace as bailed out the slowest defence in the league. For this reason he must stay in until a suitable replacement is found.

Limavady? Don't you mean stute? The game in which he was one of our best players in the first half?
