View Full Version : Player of the Year 2009
A real lack of contenders this year, have i missed any one else who could really win it?
The whole team? :D
:cheesy:
I know, it cut out before i could put the options in!

If Munster would have played more matches this season he'd have been an option. Thanks DJ

If he had of got the chance to play all season like Spike more or less had, then maybe.
Agree with TCB almost, we havent had a great player all season round, instead we've had Mulgrew in charge the first half, Dougie being the best player since boxing day, but imho we've had Carvill being consistently good/great through most of the season and the name not up there is Garrett whose been consistent.
1. Carvill
2. Dougie
3. Mulgrew
4. Garrett

I'd'ave gone for Mulgrew but he got injured and hasn't really been that great since. So went for Carvill. :)

Sums it up pretty well for me ourkid. Two many players have only played well in spells this year for whatever reason be it injuries or whatever. Though Curran is definitely worth a mention for his quietly consistent displays if not spectaular.

We haven't had a player all season.
That's probably how we feel after throwing away the league but we scored more goals than any other team and had the best defensive record.
Mulgrew strong at the start of the season, Garret strong at the end.
Curran weak at the start of the season and ok to strong in the latter part.
Dougie absolute shite early on (would anyone have ever picked him again after his performance away to Portadown?) but starred when moved into central defence.
Carville looked good from the start but towards the end of the season just seemed to run into dead ends in the important matches.
So although I wouldn't agree with 3 colours that we haven't had a player, I think we have had a few but don't think anyone has rose above the rest to stand out as player of the year.
As such, I think the Inaugural H&H Linfield Player of the Year trophy should be packed away and started from 2010.
